Hey everyone! Welcome to JustJax! I’m Jax Honeycutt, and if you don’t already know me, I’m super excited to introduce myself and share what this blog is about. Here, I’ll be diving into all the things I’m passionate about—history, art, literature, politics, and social justice. If you’re a Gen-Z kid like me who cares about the world and wants to make a difference, then you’re in the right place. I created this space to connect, share, and hopefully spark conversations that matter.
So, who am I? Well, I wear a lot of hats. I’m an actor, an advocate, and the proud owner of HoneyBooks Bookshop. My journey started as a kid with a love for stories—whether they were in books, shows, or history lessons. That passion led me to acting, where I get to embody different characters and tell stories that reflect real-life struggles and triumphs. Whether I’m on stage or in front of a camera, I’m all about using my voice and platform to amplify the stories that often go unheard.
As an advocate, I'm fiercely passionate about healthcare, equity, and social justice, especially when fighting for marginalized communities' rights. Being Black and queer myself, I know firsthand how powerful representation is, and that's a big part of why I started HoneyBooks Bookshop. It's an online bookstore that features works by BIPOC and queer authors or books that center these voices. Books have always been a form of activism for me. They can teach, inspire, and empower, so I strongly believe in promoting diverse literature. I wanted a space where readers could find stories that reflect their experiences and open their eyes to different perspectives. I am equally as passionate about healthcare. My mother lives with a chronic condition called Crohn's Disease, and it's made a significant impact on our life as a family. I advocate with her often on Capitol Hill about the need for better healthcare protections and laws for those living with chronic conditions or caring for those with chronic conditions. I also sit on the leadership board of the Connecting to Cure Crohn's & Colitis Foundation and the IBDMoms Foundation. I have done advocacy work with the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation and the Digestive Disease National Coalition.
I also love history and politics (I know, nerd alert!). But seriously, understanding the past is crucial to making sense of the present—and trying to create a better future. You’ll see a ton of posts here about historical events that shaped today’s world, political movements that are pushing for change, and how we can all be part of the fight for equality. As much as I love discussing history and politics, I’m not just about the heavy stuff—I’m also into art and literature that make you feel something. So expect some recs for books, movies, and pieces of art that challenge the status quo.
This blog is for all of us who care about making a difference. Whether you're an activist, a history buff, a bookworm, or just someone looking to learn more, I hope this space becomes a hub for inspiration, education, and laughter. And I want to hear from YOU. Let’s talk about what you’re reading, what movements you're involved in, or what social justice issues you're passionate about.
So buckle up! We’ve got a lot to talk about, and I can’t wait to share this journey with you. Let’s change the world—one story, one piece of art, and one action at a time.
Catch you in the next post!
